Rebecca joined Grant Thornton in 2008 as Senior executive and has since been promoted to Senior manager.
Rebecca worked as an internal auditor for an international non-profit organization in Philippines whose mandate is to oversee the accounting transactions of the delegation in over 60 countries.
In Botswana she joined Skill Share International (UK) seconded to the local NGO as finance and project coordinator to oversee the viability of the project and monitor foreign grants received from UK, Norway, the Netherlands, Germany and African Development Fund.
At Grant Thornton, Rebecca is in charge of indirect tax engagements such as VAT compliance for individuals and companies, attending to disputes and arbitration on VAT audits performed by BURS, liaising with clients on income tax amendments and improvements /changes on BURS processes, and leading the clients for online registration with BURS e-services.
In addition, she has been involved in obtaining amalgamation approval from Competition Authority and BURS, and is actively involved with the merger notification and approval from Competition Authority for clients.
Rebecca has experience in tax compliance and tax consulting for privately held business, investment companies, diamond companies and consumer products.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Rebecca is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) majoring in Accounting, a member of Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and a fellow member of Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
Rebecca is involved in various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of Grant Thornton in Botswana, the latest being Tshwaragano Primary School adopted in line with the “Adopt a school” program.
Presentations and publications
Rebecca has been a member of Grant Thornton’s corporate Toastmasters club from 2014 - 2016, which has facilitated development of communication and leadership skills. She served as ‘Vice President – Membership’ in 2014/15 and ‘Secretary’ in 2015/16.
