Refilwe Laletsang

Refilwe Laletsang joined Grant Thornton in 2025.She is an Assistant Manager in the Advisory division, and she has over 10 years of work experience.

Experience

Refilwe served as a Consultant at Deloitte Botswana from 2012 conducting internal audits (including IT audits) as well as governance, compliance and risk management reviews. She also served as an Internal Auditor at Botswana Post from 2016 -2019 as well as Internal Auditor at Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) from May 2020 prior to joining Grant Thornton in 2025. Her responsibilities included executing the annual audit programmes, fraud investigations as well as reporting to management and the Finance and Audit Committee. 

At Grant Thornton, Refilwe is currently responsible for providing internal audit services in medium to large organisations, driving business development, contributing to the development of associates by supervising and coaching and management of the Business Risk Services team.

Sector experience

Refilwe has experience of providing internal audit services to companies in a variety of sectors such as mining, telecoms, insurance, financial services, government and parastatals.

Professional qualifications and memberships

Refilwe holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours Information Systems degree from the University of the Witwatersrand attained in July of 2011, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Information Systems and Insurance & Risk Management from the same university attained in 2010. Refilwe also holds a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification issued in 2018 and is currently pursuing a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification. She is a member of IIA and ISACA.

Technological proficiency

Refilwe has extensive experience operating various software to execute internal audit methodology, such as IDEA (data analysis), Process flow / mapping tools to represent different processes and ACL (audit workflow). Furthermore, she is proficient in using Microsoft office tools to bring quality to different assignments. 

Community involvement

Refilwe has been a member of Ladies Circle Botswana since 2012 supporting charitable causes at a national level through the NGO. She served as President of Ladies Circle Botswana for 2018/19. She has also volunteered her time to mentor girls and young women over the years.

Refilwe participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities paying special attention to the upliftment of education in Botswana.
