Arindam is a Director and Head of Advisory with over 22 years of experience in transaction advisory services, business risk services, business consulting, finance and accounts, and equity research. He has been associated with Grant Thornton’s Advisory Services division for 11 years having joined as a Manager.
Experience
Arindam completed his Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification in 1997 from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. His professional career started with a renowned tea company in India in their Finance division. Subsequently he joined the Internal Audit division of Bata India Ltd and then headed the Accounting division of their retail channels for 3 years.
Arindam then took up the role of an Analyst with an equity research outsourcing firm providing offshore support to Deutsche Bank analysts covering the retail and luxury goods sectors.
Arindam is responsible for transaction advisory services, business risk services, and business consulting services to Grant Thornton’s clients.
Sector experience
Arindam has been involved in providing financial and commercial due diligence, valuation (equity & bond), financial modelling, M&A advisory (sell-side & buy-side), reporting accountants’ opinions, independent business reviews, risk assessment, internal audit, financial procedures preparation, integrated reporting, market assessments and other business consulting services to clients across a wide range of non-mining industries.
He is a specialist in the consumer products / retail and food service and travel, tourism & leisure industries at Grant Thornton in Botswana.
Arindam has been involved in successful completion of both buy-side and sell-side transactions in Botswana. He also has been involved in risk assessments for organisations in various sectors. Presently, Arindam’s focus is developing the business consulting practice of Grant Thornton Botswana. He has experience of handling teams of varied backgrounds and has an aptitude to coach and train staff, and transfer skillsets.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Arindam is an Associate member of Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) and Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
Technological Proficiency
Arindam has extensive experience operating various software to execute internal audit methodology, such as IDEA (data analysis), Process flow / mapping tools to monitor different processes and Teammate (audit workflow). Furthermore, he is proficient in using Microsoft office tools to bring quality to different assignments.
Community involvement
Arindam was a member of the Private Business Growth Awards internal judges panel in 2017 and 2018. Presented in association with Business Botswana and Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), this initiative is Grant Thornton’s biggest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity that encourages and honours the development of growing private businesses in the country, and led to a partnership with USAID Trade Hub to present the “Botswana Exporter of the Year” awards.
Arindam participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities such as Learn to Play Bontleng community (2021), SSVP Christ the King Cathedral in Gaborone-west (2021/20), COVID-19 National Relief Fund (2020), Tswaragano Primary School in Old Naledi (2022/19/18/17).

Arindam has contributed articles on Food service, Travel, tourism & leisure and Banking, Financial Services & Insurance industries as well as on the trends in mergers & acquisitions in Botswana for Grant Thornton publications.
In 2017, he was involved in conducting a CIMA workshop on
‘Restructuring versus Liquidation’. He also involved in workshops conducted by the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) in 2019 on Corporate Finance Advisory and Sustainability & Integrated Reporting.
