Lydia is an Assistant Manager in the Corporate Services Division at Grant Thornton. She handles transfer secretarial work.
Experience
Lydia worked at Botswana Book Centre for 3 years, and thereafter joined Rustick Touch for 2 years before joining Grant Thornton in 1995. She has 25 years of working experience in the Corporate Services division of Grant Thornton. Lydia provides direct support and assistance to the Partner and Manager within the Corporate Services division.
Lydia leads staff in Transfer Secretarial Services including listing of companies with stock exchange, prelisting work, receipt of subscription, recording and safekeeping of application forms, depositing payments received into companies’ bank accounts, addressing queries of shareholders, issue of share certificates, and depositing shares into CSD.
She is also responsible for attending to transfer of shares, depositing physical certificates into CSD, issue of duplicate certificates, addressing queries from shareholders, updating and maintenance, safe keeping of shareholders records, filing of written instructions. Lydia is in charge of circulating monthly reports with regard to trading, list of shareholders to management, institutional investors and brokers.
Lydia also leads the team of staff in corporate actions including dividend distribution, rights issue, interest payments on bonds issued by companies, despatch of Annual Reports and other circulars to shareholders, receiving proxy forms before general meetings, and attending meetings to confirm quorum for general meetings.

Professional qualifications and memberships
Lydia is proficient in using Microsoft Office applications to bring value to different assignments. She is particularly proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel to generate quality and informative reports for clients across different industries. Furthermore, she is well versed with using the BSE online platform for depositing into JSE and checking shareholder balances. She is also proficient in using Grant Thornton patented software for dividends calculations.

Community involvement
Lydia participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities such as Learn to Play Bontleng community (2021), SSVP Christ the King Cathedral in Gaborone-west (2021/20), COVID-19 National Relief Fund (2020), Tswaragano Primary School in Old Naledi (2022/19/18/17).
