Sampath is an Information technology professional with over 25 years of experience in IT. He is a certified professional in various IT areas and he has been associated with Grant Thornton since 2017.
Sampath has vast experience in the field of IT Risk Audits, Vmware and Microsoft technologies. He started his career on a small note and worked in India and Qatar before migrating to Botswana where he joined Botho University as a Network Administrator and was later promoted to Technical Manager. His responsibilities included managing all IT infrastructures, IT, electrical and electronic devices. At Grant Thornton, Sampath takes care of all IT matters, and implementation of policies set by Grant Thornton International Limited.
Sampath has been actively involved in conducting Infrastructure and IT Risk Audits on various platforms. Sampath is also actively involved in the areas of Virtualization in Vmware, Hyper V and other similar platforms such as CITRIX, Information security, to name a few.
Sampath is also involved in conducting compliance audits on Grant Thornton member firms compliance requirements.
Sampath has acquired a PhD in Management, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) and Certified Ethical Hacking Community (CEH). His memberships include Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Certified Ethical Hacking Community (CEH).
Sampath is well adept with operating different software used by clients from across different industries. His speciality is in Microsoft SQL, Oracle, ERP D365 platform, Linux Operating system, Fort iGATE, Sophos firewall, Cobit frameworks, ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security framework, Operating systems, IT risk management frameworks, Data classifications and Virtual machine: VM. Furthermore, he is proficient in using Microsoft Office tools to bring value to different tasks.
Sampath participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities such as Learn to Play Bontleng community (2021), SSVP Christ the King Cathedral in Gaborone-west (2021/20), COVID-19 National Relief Fund (2020), Tswaragano Primary School in Old Naledi (2022/19/18/17).
Sampath has been a member of Grant Thornton’s corporate Toastmasters club, which has facilitated development of communication and leadership skills.
Sampath has authored over 30 research papers in premium journals on topics such as cybersecurity, energy economics and policy, energy and power.
