Sunny is a Partner of the Audit assurance team with more than 13 years of experience in the field of Audit and Assurance services.
Experience
Sunny qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India with a certificate of merit in auditing. He was actively involved in the audits of various organisations and banks in India.
Sunny joined Grant Thornton in 2004 as a Senior Executive and progressed to become a Senior Manager in 2011, and Partner in 2017. Aside audit assignments, Sunny is also involved in the in-house training of the recently joined executives with regard to the audit software used by Grant Thornton and various other audit standards and methodology adopted by the firm.
Sector experience
Sunny has been in charge of the external audits and other assignments for a diverse clientele, involving banks (Bank of Baroda, Barclays Bank) large manufacturing, real estate, construction, trading, non-profitable organisations and service industry clients.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Sunny is a ‘Certified Auditor’ in Botswana approved by Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA), a fellow member of BICA and associate member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is currently involved in the templates setting committee of Grant Thornton International Limited (GTIL) which is responsible for the development of the Networks audit methodology.
Sunny is also a BCom graduate from Mulund College of Commerce, India, and a member of Grant Thornton International Audit Review (GTAR) team, which conducts quality control reviews of Grant Thornton member firms and its audit practices across the world.
Community involvement
Sunny is involved in various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of Grant Thornton in Botswana, the latest being Tshwaragano Primary School adopted in line with the “Adopt a school” program.
In his personal capacity, Sunny is a sponsor for the Holy Cross Hospice, a charitable organisation involved in assisting and nursing patients with terminal illness.
Presentations and publications
Sunny has been a member of Grant Thornton’s corporate Toastmasters club since 2014, which has facilitated development of communication and leadership skills.
