Fatima is a Manager in the Corporate Services, who joined Grant Thornton in 2013.
Experience
Fatima provides direct support and assistance to the Partner in charge of the Corporate Services division. She reports various risks involved in assignments, and is involved in post-incorporation formalities of companies, new company registration and the submission of the clients’ annual returns. She is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the firm policies and procedures, quality control policies and the profession.
She attends client board meetings acting as the minute secretary and prepares draft minutes. Fatima oversees all secretarial work done by the division, and oversees statutory documents prepared by senior staff, including resolutions and statutory forms.
Fatima joined Grant Thornton in 2013 as an Executive, was promoted to Senior executive in 2015, and to the position of Assistant manager in 2019 and to Manager in 2021.
Sector experience
Fatima’s sector experience involves both Accounting and Finance, as well as provision of corporate services to a variety of clients from various industries.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Fatima is a fellow member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and a Fellow member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
Technological Proficiency
Fatima is proficient in using Microsoft Office applications to bring value to different assignments. She is particularly proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel to generate quality and informative reports for clients across different industries. Furthermore, she is well versed with using the CIPA online platform for company secretarial roles including but not limited to, registration, filing annual returns, submission of financial statements, amalgamation and deregistration.
Community involvement
Fatima participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities such as Learn to Play Bontleng community (2021), SSVP Christ the King Cathedral in Gaborone-west (2021/20), COVID-19 National Relief Fund (2020), Tswaragano Primary School in Old Naledi (2022/19/18/17).
