Sangeeta is an Associate director in the Finance and admin of Grant Thornton, Botswana. She is a professional cost accountant and has been involved in various assignments towards effective management information reporting and setting up of accounting systems.
Experience
Sangeeta joined Grant Thornton in 2006 in the Northern branches, handling accounting and taxation services as a Junior executive. Her enthusiasm and capability in handling various accounting and taxation services, and effective clientele handling led her to spearhead several major accounting assignments, which then led her to be promoted to Senior executive and later transferred to the Large and Medium Business Services department in the Gaborone office in 2007.
Sangeeta has trained expertise in Pastel accounting software and has been instrumental in the installation and setting up of accounting systems for many of her clientele. Her clientele included various large and medium sized business, and her expertise include setting procedures for effective management reporting, corporate taxation, personal taxation and Value Added Tax (VAT). In 2011 she was promoted to Manager and she spearheaded a new billing stream of secondment for the firm. She was successfully seconded to head the finance division for the largest hospital in the country and later to one of the largest university in the county. Her experience through secondment has led her to become an expert in setting up controls and procedures in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment.
Currently part of the Finance and admin team, Sangeeta is in charge of effective process implementation in finance function, management reporting, costing and budgeting.
Sector experience
Sangeeta has wide spread experience in handling a varied portfolio of clients ranging from mid-market entrepreneurial businesses to large-scale businesses. Her client portfolio includes diamond cutting and polishing clients, tourism clients, filling stations, supermarkets, property businesses, and other business. Her expertise in secondments is in the medical and education sector.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Sangeeta is an associate member of Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India, and an associate certified professional member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA). She is also a trained personnel in advanced Pastel Partner and a holder of an Advanced Diploma in Application Programming Technology from BITECH, India.
Community involvement
Sangeeta is involved in various CSR activities of Grant Thornton in Botswana, the latest being support provided to Tshwaragano Primary School over the last 3 years on Grant Thornton annual CSR day.
In her personal capacity, Sangeeta is an active member of the Lions Club of Gaborone and has served as the President of Gaborone Lions Club and a Zone Chair. She is also a recipient of Melvin Jones Award, the highest recognition given by Lions Club International for dedicated service to community. She has been a leader in various projects of the club, significant one being International Peace Poster Competition for children.
Presentations and publications
Sangeeta has been a member of Grant Thornton’s corporate Toastmasters club since April 2014. Toastmasters is a not-for-profit organization that helps members develop communication and leadership skills.
